It’s practically a disease, this bike-building thing. Since I became a host I’ve been assiduously infecting all my friends, at least those who will listen.
So, after many Merckxs, we’ve decided to broaden our scope and attempt taming this Gallic beast. The brief: for and with the excellent stvitussdance, we’re to find and build a bike for under $200.
It’s a rough diamond, and much steel wool will be required, but I for one see a lot of potential here. We’ll keep you posted!
Looks like I drive a Peugeot now.

The biggest pain is the BB on French bikes. Looks like a nice start for a project though. Single speed or geared? Looking forward to seeing your progress. And good luck with the budget!
